There are OTHER Marathons!


I know, I know, I know ... London is the ONLY marathon!

But have you looked ... there are loads of marathons being held across the UK in spring which have entries available NOW.

If you don't fancy running for a charity, but still want to realise your dream of running a marathon next spring, why don't you enter a different race.

Here are some of the larger marathons that are taking place next spring (based upon marathons organised in 2018 - so there might be some changes!)

Manchester, Sunday 7th April

Billed as the flattest, fastest and friendliest UK marathon and held entirely on closed, main roads, The ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon is perfect for PB chasing. Finishing outside Old Trafford stadium, race day promises the crowd of a big city race but with a less jam-packed running field.

Brighton, Sunday 14th April

Held shortly before London with the same great crowd support plus the stunning backdrop of the sea, the Brighton Marathon is a brilliant UK marathon. And as an added bonus, afterwards weary runners can whip off their race vest and jump straight into the sea for a well-earned ice bath.

Boston Marathon, April 14th April

No not THAT Boston!

The flattest marathon course in the country, held on the Sunday preceding USA Patriots Day (3rd Monday of April), the day of the more famous US Boston marathon.

Blackpool, 28th April

Held on Blackpool's Promenade passing all the great landmarks and tourist spots including Blackpool Tower and the pier, head over to the seaside for this fantastic coastal marathon. A flat and fast route with plenty of spots for loved ones to cheer from, the Blackpool Marathon is the perfect day out for the whole family and will be much easier on the pocket, should you decide to stick around for the weekend.

Shakespeare, 28th April

The marathon takes you through world famous Stratford-upon-Avon starting in the centre of the town, opposite Shakespeare’s old school. You’ll run through quintessential English villages of Warwickshire.

Southampton, 5th May

The Marathon route is an exciting mix of coast, city and parks. This route is predominantly flat, perfect for a debut marathon! This is a 2 lapped route, which means you have twice the fun and you know whats coming up.

Stirling Scottish Marathon, 28th April

This road race starts and finishes in the city centre, near to the historical Stirling Castle.

Belfast City, 5th May

Join 17,000 runners as they make their way through the city, completing the gruelling 26.2 mile course. You’ll be able to enjoy some of the fantastic scenery of Belfast as you venture past some of Belfasts most iconic landmarks. And, with the route covering all areas of city, expect plenty of support as residents line the streets to cheer you on.

Milton Keynes, 6th May

A speedy and scenic route taking in tree-lined boulevards, picturesque lakes, green parks and lush woodland and finishing with a victory lap of the Championship football stadium.

Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll, 20th May

With over 30 live bands en route, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool Marathon promises to be a fun-packed race around Liverpool, taking in the sights along the infamous Mersey and finishing with a party at the Albert Dock that will make you forget about transatlantic races and feel proud to live in the super cool UK.

Edinburgh, 26th May

With over 30,000 runners set to enter, Scotland's largest running festival is the perfect alternative to London. If its fast, flat route around the beautiful city of Edinburgh isn't enough to tempt you, they also offer guaranteed entry to all unsuccessful London Marathon applicants.

So many to choose from! Why not travel to a part of the UK you've not visited before and make a weekend of it.
