Beetroot for Endurance

Beetroots are known for their high concentrations of nitrate and nitrite, which have performance enhancing properties. Research has shown that increased nitrate and nitrite intake has helped the performance of endurance athletes by improving economy.

However, not everyone responds, but I think it's worth a try!

It's recommended to drink beetroot juice daily for 5 days before an endurance event to load your body.

So for the next few days, prior to the marathon, I'm having Beetroot Soup with Feta or lunch and trying not to turn my kitchen pink in the process!
