Homemade Beans on Toast

Beans on toast is another great post workout lunch idea.

It's easy to make your own, with your choice of beans (i used butter beans) adding herbs and spices (I simmered the tomato sauce with 1 clove of crushed garlic, a sprig of rosemary and large pinch of chilli flakes) to make a more adult version of the childhood classic.

Butter beans have low-calorie content compared to their serving size which helps control hunger. They're a very low-fat source of protein, a good source of iron, zinc and magnesium, and B vitamins, specifically thiamin, riboflavin and folate, which are necessary for turning the carbs you eat into energy.
